Indonesia to buy 42 Rafale from France
Indonesia will buy 42 Rafale jets from France. This
information has been given by French Defense Minister Florence Parly from his
Twitter page. In the Indo-Pacific region, Indonesia will be the second country
after India to have state-of-the-art fighter jets like Rafale.
Florence has said that the strengthening of defense ties
between Indonesia and France will benefit our strategic partnership. He has
also told that Indonesia is cooperating with France in the field of submarines,
although he did not give any details about this.
The Philippines, another country in the southeast, has
recently approved the purchase of BrahMos missiles from India. The Philippines
is the first country to purchase the BrahMos missile system. On 28 January
2022, both sides signed the BrahMos deal.
Preparing to surround China in the South China Sea
South East Asian countries, including Indonesia and the
Philippines, have been troubled by China's growing grandeur in the South China
Sea. Recently, South East Asian countries are determined to respond to China.
Five countries - Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia have
spoken of forming an alliance together. This alliance is to respond to the
aggressive China in the South China Sea. In such a situation, countries like
Philippines will be stronger with missiles like BrahMos and countries like Indonesia
will be stronger than fighter jets like Rafale.
